Primary Accountabilities:
- Act as a role model and instill acceptable behavior on others.
- Work with individuals to encourage positive choices
- Assist consumer’s to become more familiar of their community Resources
- Become familiar with the program plan for each client in the facility.
- Understand behavior modification techniques and how to correctly implement them.
- Understand and assist individuals in exercises designed to improve or maintain, mobility range of motion and self-help skills.
- Document incidents that occur and maintain current progress notes and data frequency counts on each client assigned to them.
- Implement necessary and appropriate treatment for individuals.
- Attend necessary staff meetings and in-service training.
- Assist client in all areas of grooming and personal hygiene skills.
- Assist with basic medical treatment as prescribed and administer medication ensuring proper documentation.
- Ensure open lines of communication with individuals, staff members, and administrator.
- Assist in supervision of meal preparation and housekeeping, as assigned.
- Have the ability to exercise mature judgment and relate to clients in a warm, caring, and non-expletive means.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and home environment for residents of the home.
- Participate in recreation programs with individuals in the home.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications:
- Have a valid California Driver’s License
- Complete pre-employment requirements including in-house training and orientation
- Complete a background check
- High School Diploma or GED
- Direct Support Professional Certification Level 1 and 2.
- Minimum one year experience in a residential setting working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with charting, medication administration, and positive behavior support.
